How to port your business numbers to Enterprise eSIM

The Enterprise eSIM team 6 min readUpdated 11 August 2026

You can move your existing UK business mobile numbers onto Enterprise eSIM by porting them — the standard UK process of transferring a number from one provider to another using a PAC code. Your numbers keep working throughout, and once the port completes they live on a real UK line (Vodafone UK) that your company owns.

Porting is best when you already have numbers customers know. If you just need fresh work lines instead, ordering a new number is quicker — see give employees a work number.

Before you start

  • The number must be a UK mobile number that’s currently active with your existing provider.
  • You’ll need a PAC (Porting Authorisation Code) for each number you want to bring over.
  • Have the current account details to hand — the name and number as held by your existing provider.
  • The receiving phone needs to support eSIM / dual SIM so the ported line can install beside an existing SIM.

How to port, step by step

  1. 1

Get a PAC for each number

Ask each number’s current provider for its PAC (text PAC to 65075, or request it in their app). Keep a note of which PAC belongs to which number.

  2. 2

Add the line in your portal

Sign in at get started, open /app, and choose "Port a number" for each line you’re bringing over.

  3. 3

    Enter the number and PAC

Submit the number, its PAC, and the matching account details. Double-check the digits — a wrong PAC or mismatched name is the most common cause of delays.

  4. 4

Assign the line to a person

While the port is in progress, assign the line to the employee who’ll use it and send their install invite, so the eSIM is ready to activate the moment the port lands.

  5. 5

    Install the eSIM

The employee scans the QR to install the work line beside their existing SIM. See dual SIM for work for labelling and default-line settings.

  6. 6

    Port completes and cuts over

On the scheduled cutover the number moves across. The old service stops and the number becomes live on the new eSIM. Make a test call and text to confirm.

Realistic timing and continuity

A new work number is live in minutes. A port is different — it depends on the losing provider releasing the number, so it doesn’t happen instantly.

What to expect during a port

Once ported, the number behaves like any other work line: your company owns it, and you can reassign it when someone moves on — see own your business numbers and offboard an employee’s phone number.

Frequently asked questions

Will my number stop working during the port?

No. Your number keeps working on your current service right up to the scheduled cutover, then goes live on the new eSIM. Keep the old phone reachable until it switches.

How long does a port take?

UK mobile ports usually complete on the next working day once details are verified, but can take longer for business accounts, mismatched details, or over weekends and holidays.

Do I need a PAC for every number?

Yes — each number needs its own PAC from its current provider. In the UK you can get one by texting PAC to 65075.

Should I cancel my old contract first?

No. Don’t cancel it yourself — the port automatically closes the old service when the number transfers. Cancelling early can lose the number.
