Rolling out work numbers to a whole team is mostly a matter of ordering the lines in bulk and letting people self-install by scanning a QR. Each person adds a real UK work number as an eSIM beside their existing SIM — no new phones, no IT visit — and you manage every line from one portal. A typical rollout takes an afternoon, not a project plan.
This guide covers the whole path: preparing, ordering, inviting, driving adoption, and ongoing management. For the single-person version, start with give employees a work number.
Before you roll out
- List everyone who needs a work line, with their work email.
- Confirm phones are eSIM-capable — an "Add eSIM" option in network settings is the tell.
- Decide your naming convention so lines are easy to find later (for example, Sales – Jordan or a team + name pattern).
- Budget roughly £4.99/line/month and add a couple of spare lines for new starters.
Deployment, step by step
- 1Sign in at get started and open the portal at /app.
- 2Order the number of lines you need in one go, then name each line using your convention.
- 3Assign each line to a person by entering their work email.
- 4Send the install invites — the portal emails everyone a QR code and short instructions.
- 5Staff scan the QR to install the work line beside their existing SIM and label it "Work".
- 6Ask each person to make a test call or text, then confirm the line shows as active in the portal.
Getting people to actually use the work line
Installing the eSIM is half the job; the other half is habit. A few things that help adoption:
- Give a clear reason — a work line keeps personal numbers private and means account signups, OTPs and 2FA land on the work line.
- Point people to dual SIM for work so they set the right default line from the start.
- Ask staff to hand out the work number, not their personal one, for anything customer- or account-facing.
- Set a short deadline for install and share the pilot how-to so nobody’s guessing.
For distributed teams, eSIM for remote teams covers rolling out without ever touching the devices.
Managing lines from the portal
Everything lives in one place at /app. Because your company owns the numbers, you keep control as the team changes.
| Task | What you do |
|---|---|
| Add a new starter | Order or reassign a spare line and send an invite |
| Reassign a leaver’s number | Move the line to a new person — the number stays with the company |
| Port existing numbers in | Bring known numbers over with a PAC (see the porting guide) |
| Track adoption | See which lines are active and which invites are still pending |
| Manage billing | One consolidated bill across all your lines |
Because the numbers are company-owned, offboarding is clean: reassign or park the line and the number never walks out the door. See own your business numbers and offboard an employee’s phone number. To bring existing numbers in, see port business numbers.

Frequently asked questions
How long does a team rollout take?
Ordering and assigning lines takes minutes. Most people self-install in under five minutes each, so a whole team is typically live the same day — allow for a couple of follow-ups with anyone who’s pending.
Do we have to touch each phone?
No. Staff scan a QR from their invite to install the work line themselves, so it works for in-office and remote teams alike without IT handling devices.
Can we add or remove lines later?
Yes. Order more lines for new starters at any time, and reassign a leaver’s line to someone else. The company owns each number, so it stays with the business.
How is billing handled?
All lines sit under one account with consolidated billing at around £4.99/line/month, managed from the portal at /app.
